We seem to be having quite a season for named storms. I waited in vain for just one last winter, but here we are in the middle of January and we are already on storm number nine.
The two most recent storms have both been during the night, but for Storm Gerrit, I made the trip all the way down to Newhaven during the day. This time, I parked up on the far left and used my trusty bean bag over the open window. It rained at one point and the gales helpfully blew the water inside my little car. My camera and lens were fine because I had packed cloths to wipe them dry, but I ended up driving home in soggy clothes.
I think it was worth the visit.

28 Jan 2024Yes, it was worth the visit!
There is something, let’s say, mighty in those waves against the lighthouse, and scary for the power of raging water.
Impressive!

30 Jan 2024Thank you Sid. It’s incredible how water can appear both gentle and powerful, depending on the situation 🙂
