I was looking back through my images and came across several of a kestrel (or kestrels) on assorted posts. They were all taken on the same day, just over a year ago. They are a reminder that I need to find time to get back to one of my favourite reserves.
The first three images were taken around midday, when the sun wasn’t as strong. The bird and post were more distant, which is why I haven’t cropped too much. I loved how the bird carried on preening, not bothered by me at all.

The next two photographs were shot later in the afternoon, when the sun was out, creating a lovely colourful background.

This final one was taken as I was driving through a gate and over a cattle grid. Normally, I wouldn’t have stopped because I was blocking the track, but luckily there were no other vehicles behind. I crept as close to the bird as possible and managed to capture this before driving through. Looking in the rear view mirror a while later, I could see approaching cars had stopped, so the bird had remained in place.
