Exactly two months after our first photoshoot, I had the opportunity to capture Tarzan towards the end of January. The sun was still flooding our bedroom upstairs and he was happy to model for a short time. He is still a small cat, but weighs in at more than 4kg now. He feels solid and his muscles ripple from hours of mad hurtling around the house. This is often accompanied by blood-curdling screams, which is what we believe earned him his name in the first place.

His retrieving skills are legendary and he has acquired a box full of home-made “butterflies”. (Penguin wrappers folded and knotted in the middle). He brings several up to me as I’m getting ready for bed. I let him play for a while and they are then confiscated in my bedside cabinet. I normally let him have them back when the alarm goes off at 6.30 a.m., but he has recently started bringing more up just as it is beginning to get light. During the day, if I’m outside for longer than expected, I generally find a butterfly or two left where I would normally be at that time. In fact, as I sat down to write this blog post, there were two left thoughtfully under my chair.
