A walk in the park

A walk in the park

Ent 2

When I was a child, my parents often used to take me to a local deer park. We would drive in one entrance and walk the same route every time. The deer were friendly back then and would approach us for treats. Feeding them was banned some years later and the deer reverted to their normal behaviour.

Years later, I used the park as the start and end point for a sponsored walk I had devised. It took many hours checking Google maps and driving to locations to work out how to connect various footpaths. I even walked it several times. At ten miles though, I haven’t attempted the route for a long time and in fact, the last time I tried, I had to call my husband to come out and rescue me. It’s a shame, but I still have some wonderful memories. (Plus full directions, should anyone local to me want to give it a try).

Then, last year I discovered another entrance and although I have used it several times since, I have yet to connect one side of the park to the other. It seems strange that a place I thought I knew well, has a different side. It’s one I enjoyed exploring during the beautiful autumn last year and I thought it would be nice to share some photographs.

  1. Ten miles would kill me now 🙂 Parks and woodland areas are always nice, especially for wildlife.

    1. I’m glad it’s not just me then! We are spoilt for parks here 🙂

  2. Husbands are always useful after some ten miles walk through such a beautiful park 😂
    Great shots!

    1. They are indeed. I may need mine again when I go to look for dragonflies next week. I’ve heard the hills are very steep 🙂
