As I mentioned in my earlier post, I always need at least three visits to Stodmarsh nature reserve before I’m happy with the photographs I’ve taken. I was certainly thrilled with the images of the kingfisher hovering that I took on my final visit, but otherwise, there wasn’t much to be seen from the hide on that day. In the end, I found that I kept more from the second trip and I thought it would be nice to share them today.
The image featured at the top was my favourite from that day and confirmed that the lens calibration I had done with my Sigma 150-600mm and my old Nikon D800, was working as well (if not better) with my new Nikon D810. I was prepared to have the lens calibrated with my replacement body, but the company I used previously has closed permanently.
The next photograph was taken with the bird on a more distant perch, but I loved how his bright colours stood out in the poor light.
Another two taken on the same perch, but a couple of hours later when the sun put in a brief appearance.
These were taken just before I packed up for the long drive home.
