In all the years that I’ve been photographing butterflies, it’s hard to believe that I never caught up with an orange tip. Seen pretty much everywhere in the Spring, we regularly get them in our garden and fields. They never settle for more than a few nanoseconds though, which makes getting up close with my macro lens an almost impossible task.
I have a couple of friends in BlueSky, who have had some luck approaching them in the lighter evenings and once it has begun to cool off, but I’m never out with my camera at that time. So… when I spotted one flitting down a path at our local country park the other week, I very nearly didn’t bother. It was early afternoon and very warm, but something made me give chase, just in case. I’m so glad I did.
