I thought I had better write a blog post about Felix and his favourite mouse before it goes missing forever. Although it’s wonderful when one of the cats has a special toy, I always worry it will be one of those missing in action – either down the side of the fridge, or under the furniture. My husband goes round every few weeks and normally finds anything up to 30 springs, assorted mice, fluffy balls and catnip filled cats. Some of their favourites can go AWOL for weeks at a time, although they mostly turn up in the end.
Felix became obsessed with this tiny pink mouse some time ago. It too, was one of those that went missing and turned up a couple of months later. In the meantime, I bought him a box of 36 tiny mice from Amazon and although he played with them a bit, they were clearly not the same. Then, the mouse turned up again, but his enthusiastic playing had me worried it would eventually be lost for good.
I let him have one more playtime, which resulted in the photographs shared here and afterwards, I hid the mouse in my bedside cabinet. I feel cruel, but it’s the only way to keep it safe.
A short while later, he became fixated on a little blue mouse…

21 Jun 2025Felix is such a good cat. It breaks my heart that he was dumped at the Port of Midia in Romania. Just six months old and wearing a little blue collar. He’s so happy here and really gets on well with all our other cats.
Happy Caturday to you my friend! 🙂
